Got a small or cheap server?
26.2 onlyThere's a second config made for weak machines — around 3GB of memory, an old processor, not much disk. It turns a lot of things down so the server keeps up: you see less of the world at once, and fewer mobs are around. In exchange it runs a lot smoother on hardware that would otherwise struggle.
- Don't raise the memory setting. It asks for 1600MB on purpose. Setting it higher on a 3GB machine makes the server get killed, not faster.
- Your shop and sorting plugins still work. We left one speed setting switched off here so hopper plugins keep working.
- You still need Java 25, same as the normal version.
Everything it changes, and why, is written out inthe guide.
Setting it up
- Copy everything else for your Minecraft version from the repo into the same folder as the jar:
start.sh,server.properties,spigot.yml,eula.txt, and the wholeconfig/directory. Each non-root version lives in its own folder in the repo (e.g.1.21.11/). - Open
eula.txtand seteula=true. - Run
./start.sh(orjava -jar <the jar>.jar noguidirectly).
Branding shows correctly with just the jar, but performance tuning needs the config files too - see the full quick start guide for hosting-panel notes and details.
Running more than one server?
build-1Astro is a proxy. It goes in front of your servers and moves players between them, so a lobby and a survival world feel like one place. Every Velocity plugin still works. Skip this if you only run one server.
Aurora
build 1Minecraft 26.2Aurora is our fork of CanvasMC, which forks Folia, which forks Paper. It spreads the world across CPU cores instead of ticking everything on one thread.
Most plugins will not load on it
Region threading changes what a plugin is allowed to do, so a plugin only loads if itsplugin.yml declaresfolia-supported: true orcanvas-supported: true. Most declare neither. This is not a setting you can turn off. Check every plugin you run before you switch — otherwise Atlas is the jar you want, not this one.
Build 1 is the first tagged release. It boots and reports itself as Aurora, but nobody has run it in production yet, and it still warns you about that on startup. Treat it as what it says it is.
